One dark and stormy weekend in ‘06, The Cocktails gathered in the Tiki Room and blasted out seven shots of pure top-shelf rock, focusing (as much as they were able to focus given the conspicuous consumption) on some of the 60’s-style music that forms the foundation of their sound.
The previous night’s gig found them once again serving up their classic rock repertoire (Beatles, Stones, Who, Kinks, Steppenwolf) but the Band was jonesing to get back to their garage band roots. The more obscure, the better. A quick game of Quarter Toss determined the final tunes and The Cocktails lined ‘em up and pounded ‘em down, one by one.
Luckily, Jumpin’ Jeff “Jim Rummy” Gordon was there to catch them on tape as each song fell into place, and when the lost weekend was over, Rummy ran back to his Jersey studio and worked his sonic voodoo all over them.
The result is 7&7. Seven songs for seven bucks. But this one’s on the house.
